12:30 PM : Spartacus and Cassandra
3:00 PM : Meet with Jimmy Chin and Chai Vasarhelyi
4:00 PM : The Look of Silence
7:30 PM : Girl You Know It's True (shorts)
>> Former Models (dir. Benjamin Pearson): An interesting look at Milly Vanilly and the overtake of technology, autotune, and plasticity of celebrity fame.
>> Object (dir. Paulina Skibinska): This was my favorite short of the series. It began with very abstract images of something beneath the surface of ice. It goes on to follow the movements and emotions of a diver. The sound was really important to this film. The sound director was there and shared that they collected sound clips for two years, and she received the edited film without sound and she applied the sound to it, creating the emotion and drama.
>> The Blazing World (dir. Jessica Bardsley): this short focuses on appropriated images that intersect Kleptomania, depression, and Winona Ryder.
>> The Woolsworth Choir of 1979 (dir. Elizabeth Price): Combines appropriated images of cathedral architecture, specifically the choir/chorus of one, a famous factory fire, and Shangri-Las.
